Pad

36x48cm, 2016

This piece of paper was used as a mouse-pad on a daily basis for several hours each day for about 9 months while I developed artworks using machine learning and artificial intelligence starting 2015. It captures the traces of cursor movements, serving as a by-product and a shadow of the endlessly searching mouse cursor. This work projects these digital movements from the virtual onto the real world, representing a portrait of the body behind the cursor. Many of my other works with lines also recycle these cursor movements, further exploring this theme.
